Transformation

A Transformation is any movement of a geometric figure.

Above, we have a geometric figure graphed on a plane. The first type of transformation is called a translation:

Translation

A Translation is a movement of a figure without turning it.

Here, the figure has been moved to a new location.

Reflection

In a Reflection, a figure is “flipped” over a line of symmetry.

Here, the figure has been flipped over a line of symmetry.

Rotation

In a Rotation, a figure is rotated around a fixed point.

Here, the figure has been rotated around the red fixed point.
