Slope-Intercept Form

Slope-Intercept Form is a standardized form for writing linear equations.

y = 2x + 4

The above equation is written in Slope-Intercept form. This makes it easy for us to graph it:

Because the y-intercept is 4, we plot a point at 4 on the y axis.

Our slope of 2 can be represented as (2 / 1). We can then use that to graph additional points:
