Polynomial

An algebraic expression that contains more than one monomial is called a polynomial.

The degree of a monomial is the sum of the exponents of its variables.

Above, the monomial on the left has a degree of 1. The monomial on the right has a degree of 5.

The degree of a polynomial is equal to the degree of its greatest monomial.
